Housed in a machined aluminum chassis, each unit is hand-built in our European facility to strict standards, component choices and quality control. This kind of attention to detail is typically reserved for boutique-class products.
The Antelope Discrete 8 is a Thunderbolt/USB audio interface from Antelope Audio. Now offering eight six-transistor console grade fully discrete microphone preamps and highest quality convertors to enhance the sound quality and power, it is the perfect fit for commercial facilities, home studios and mobile recording.
All-Star Technology & Performance
The preamps can handle up to 121 dB of dynamic range, and are hand-designed by the team at Antelope to offer world class sound. The FPGA engine transforms the internal preamp into several classic preamps using Accusonic modeled tubes, transformer and FET based circuitry in real time. Bipolar transistors keep THD and noise extremely low, which is uncommon in a discrete design. Discrete 8 offers a total of 28 inputs and 32 outputs via analog, S/PDIF or two ADAT connections. Also features two headphone outputs as well as two re-amp outs.
Entire Signal Path of Customizable Sonic Excellence
The signal path was designed for optimal sound with any microphone and especially when used with Antelopes new Edge and Verge microphones with matching discrete electronics.
Choose between 10 different industry standard microphone preamps. The preamp can be monitored and recorded in real time using the on board DSP system. If you wish to record without printing the sound of the preamp, Accusonic modeling can be added after the recording phase, providing unlimited flexibility in the mix.
The real-time FPGA platform covers all the bases of a professional recording facility. Microphones, preamps, conversion, compressors, EQ and monitoring all have the ability to instantly recall presets, you can even load up presets from today’s top engineers with their favorite combinations of FPGA FX used on their mixes or recordings.
Monitor FX During Tracking - ConnectAFX Plugin For The Mix
The AFX platform is an ever expanding hardware modeling engine which powers all the functions of the Accusonic microphone and preamp modeling, guitar amp and cabinet simulation, transformer and tube FX, and the huge selection of vintage EQ’s and compressors. All can be accessible as a stand-alone plug-in or via a new ConnectFX plug-in.
Plug your guitar directly into one of the front panel hi-Z inputs and transform your sound to some of the most iconic amps and cabs on the market. You can choose to print this tone in real time, or just monitor as you perform and change the signal path to suit the mix down the road. Use the re-amp output to connect to any of your pedals or external instrument level effects and record the sound back into your DAW.
Renowned Antelope Clocking
Discrete 8 features Antelope’s 4th Generation AFC clock used on the popular Trinity OCX-HD, LiveClock, Pure2, Goliath, Orion, and Zen products. There is a WC input that can de-jitter and distribute the external clock signal. With the three WC outputs, expand the Discrete 8 with other digital gear and mic preamps with it’s ADAT and S/PDIF connections, keeping all gear perfectly in sync.
The monitoring section has been expanded with four individual monitoring mixes as well as a talkback section. This provides the engineer to create custom mixes for each performer with effects included so the artist can hear the recording process similar to the finished mix. You can create custom presets to easily setup various tracking scenarios.
The talkback mic and hardware button are built into the front panel. Talkback can also be engaged by inserting a footswitch to the rear panel.
Using Antelope’s downloadable remote app, you can adjust just about every feature of the Discrete 8 remotely. This means the musicians can adjust their own headphone volumes on their phones and the engineer can be worried about recording levels in the control room.

Discrete 8 AFX
Built-in FX and Mic/Preamp Modeling
Putting Antelope Audio's Discrete 8 AFX at the center of your studio is a sure way to invigorate your projects. Experience an expensive-sounding warmth, by virtue of eight console-grade mic pres, while Accusonic modeling arms you with an array of classic microphone and preamp emulations. Beyond that, Discrete 8 AFX's built-in FPGA FX supply you with a sizable collection of spot-on vintage processor models. This audio interface offers incredible sound quality, thanks to Antelope's legendary clocking and conversion. Discrete 8 AFX includes an ample amount of I/O, and its comprehensive monitoring section includes a built-in talkback mic and up to four individual headphone mixes. Discrete 8 AFX belongs in your studio.
This version of Antelope Audio's Discrete 8 includes the Premium AFX Collection, which allows you to use 16 channels of FGPA FX processing.
Console-grade preamps with Accusonic modeling
Discrete 8 AFX's eight console-grade preamps feature a fully discrete design consisting of six accurately matched transistors. These pres sound amazing on their own, but Discrete 8 AFX takes things further with built-in Accusonic modeling that emulates classic microphones and preamps in real-time. Experience an authentic blend of 10 different mic preamps, along with tube, transformer, and FET-based microphones, with no artifacts or latency. You can capture sources with and without Accusonic modeling, enabling you to choose between mic and preamp models while mixing. While these preamps work with any microphone, they really shine with Antelope's Edge and Verge mics.
Hardware-based emulations of classic processors
Antelope Audio's Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology not only allows Discrete 8 AFX near-zero latency performance, it also powers its built-in FPGA FX, which are authentic digital re-creations of classic hardware processors. FPGA FX respond more like hardware compared to many other plug-ins, thanks to this powerful processing platform. Discrete 8 AFX's included effects deliver spot-on emulations of vintage processors, but they're just the beginning. Antelope's engineers are continuously working on creating new models, and you'll be able to add them for free as they become available.
Premium AFX Collection
The Premium AFX Collection allows you to employ the full studio power of the Antelope Audio real-time FPGA FX. The collection features authentic models of iconic studio units from BAE, Gyraf Audio, LANG, and FET. With the Premium AFX Collection, you can use 16 instances of each EQ, Compressor, and AuraVerb, plus four instances of each guitar amp/cabinet model. This Premium library features 50+ Antelope Audio real-time FPGA FX.

Acclaimed clocking and conversion technology
Antelope's 64-bit Acoustically Focused Clocking (AFC) jitter-management technology, used in top mastering facilities worldwide. Expect vast stereo imaging, wide and balanced frequency response, and an uncanny sense of depth and dimension. Discrete 8 AFX features a word clock input, so you can de-jitter and distribute an external clock signal. You also get three word clock outputs so you can distribute Discrete 8 AFX's rock-solid reference signal to your other digital gear, keeping everything in perfect sync.
Comprehensive monitoring section with 4 headphone mixes
Discrete 8 AFX has a comprehensive monitoring section complete with a built-in talkback mic. You can create up to four individual headphone mixes for band members, complete with FPGA FX. Set up various tracking scenarios and save them as presets for easy recall. Discrete 8 AFX's front panel features an assignable volume knob to control the level of your main monitors and the individual headphone outputs. Keeping an eye on your levels is easy, thanks to Discrete 8 AFX's front-panel metering.
