The Pultec EQP-500X brings the sound of the classic 19” 2U rack mountable EQP-1A3-SS and EQP-153-SS into your 500 series rack, offering the best features from both units. The op-amp is based on the classic API 2520, which is a much different sound from the vacuum tube models, but is preferred by many engineers due to their consistency and crystal clear tone.
The low band offers boost and attenuation of 30 Hz, 40 Hz, 70 Hz and 100 Hz. The bandwidth control will shape the EQ response of the higher frequencies from sharp to broad.
The 500X has a unique group of frequencies to choose from in the higher band, offering peak boost of 1 kHz, 2 kHz, 3 kHz, 4 kHz, 5 kHz, 8 kHz, 10 kHz, 12 kHz and 16 kHz. On the classic shelving Pultec, you would lose the 16 kHz peak boost, which is a favorite to many engineers on the classic EQP-1a. To combine the best of both worlds, the 500X dropped the 6 kHz peak boost and added back the 16kHz band. You can also choose between two shelving boost frequencies of 5 kHz and 10 kHz.
Attenuation of higher frequencies are independent from the selected boosted bands and include options for 5 kHz, 10 kHz and 20 kHz.
